Principal's Strategies for Enhancing Teacher Competence through Continuous Improvement

This study aims to describe the strategies of the school principal to enhance the pedagogical and professional competence of teachers through continuous improvement at SDN Banjaran 2 Kota Kediri. The research employs a qualitative approach of the case study type. Data collection is conducted through interview technique, observation, and documentary studies. The research has yielded information aligned with the research focus. The school principal identifies the needs of teachers through classroom action supervision and conducts evaluations with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving all teachers. The enhancement of pedagogical and professional competence is carried out through workshops, seminars, education service trainings, coaching and mentoring by senior teachers, collaborations among teachers, the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), motivations provided to teachers through the implementation of learning community activities (Kombel) within the educational institution, Teacher Work Groups (KKG), Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM), In House Training (IHT), meeting, motivation, benchmarking, punishment and reward, participative leadership style, providing guidance for teachers to attend webinars and various training programs. The success indicators of the implemented strategies by the school principal can be observed through formative and summative test results, as well as non-academic achievement outcomes. Continuous improvement in enhancing the pedagogical and professional competence of teachers is facilitated through teachers' willingness to continuously enhance their pedagogical and professional competence through various methods, such as collaborating with other teachers, engaging in self-learning activities using PMM, and conducting discussions and reflections.
