Anemia, adolescent, multivitamin

Iron deficiency anaemia is common in young women due to blood loss through the monthly menstrual cycle, rapid growth, and inadequate iron intake. The world health organization, therefore, recommends regular consumption of iron supplements. Even so, teenage girls have not fully consumed the supplements themselves. Consequently, we did this community service to motivate female students to increase their adherence to consuming iron tablets. Community service participants were 114 class VII, VIII, and IX students at Satya Wacana Christian Middle School. Community service is carried out in 2 sessions, namely the provision of material and discussion. Based on the process evaluation, we found that not all female students consumed blood supplement supplements, perceived side effects caused non-compliance, and several questions were asked by participants related to the menstrual process and its relationship to haemoglobin concentration in the blood. The participants in this activity actively discuss the consumption related-things of iron tablets.
