FESTIVAL BAU NYALE SEBAGAI PENGENALAN DAN PELESTARIAN BUDAYA

Abstract

This study aims to find out about the Bau Nyale festival as an introduction and cultural preservation. Cultural preservation is the duty of every citizen, especially the younger generation, because culture or a tradition becomes the identity of a nation. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. The research was conducted during the implementation of the 2020 Bau Nyale charm festival held by the Central Lombok Regency government. The informants in this study were people who participated in the festival and people who acted as spectators. Retrieval of data through interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis used an interactive model from Miles & Huberman, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study explain that the Bau Nyale festival in 2020 will become a forum for the introduction and preservation of the culture of the Sasak tribe. Through this festival, participants and audiences were presented with a treatrikal on the legend of the Mandalika princess as the beginning of the history of the birth of the Bau Nyale tradition, then they got an understanding of the cultural values ​​contained in the Bau Nyale tradition until the date the Bau Nyale tradition was implemented. In addition, the Bau Nyale Festival is also inserted to get to know Sasak's typical clothes such as stomach clothes, for women and pegong clothes for men, besides that it is enlivened by the traditional art of Gendang Beleq which is a typical art of the Sasak tribe
