Malaria is an infectious disease caused by plasmodium which is transmitted by female Anopheles mosquitoes. There are 4 types of plasmodium malaria, namely Plasmodium malariae, Plasmodium ovale, Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium falciperum. In 2021 this disease accounted for almost 80% of all malaria deaths in the African Region. This parasite is also dominant in other malaria hotspots, including the WHO regions of Southeast Asia and South Asia, the Eastern Mediterranean and Western Pacific, Central America and northern South America. Objective of this research is to determine the risk factors for malaria globally. This research uses an observational method with a literature review in order to identify the factors that cause malaria cases globally. Risk factors for malaria can be classified into several factors such as environmental factors, human mobility, preventive practices, economics, gender and age.
