LEVELS OF KNOWLEDGE, ACTIONS AND PRACTICES OF BASIC LIFE SUPPORT: A LITERATURE STUDY

Medical emergencies such as traffic accidents, airway obstructions, and cardiac arrest are the leading causes of death and disability that require immediate treatment. The lack of knowledge and skills of the general public and health workers in providing Basic Life Support (BHD) can exacerbate this situation. Objective: This study aims to comprehensively examine the level of BHD knowledge, actions, and practices among health workers and health students through the study of the latest literature, as well as evaluate the factors affecting BHD knowledge and skills. This study uses a literature review study method with a descriptive analysis approach. Relevant articles and journals are identified through Google Scholar and Science Direct databases using specific keywords. The article selection process is carried out in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria set, then analyzed using the PRISMA method. From the search and selection results, 3 articles were found that met the inclusion criteria. The results of the review show that most health workers and health students have inadequate knowledge and skills in BHD. However, there is one article that shows a good level of knowledge among nurses in rural areas in Indonesia
