Abstract

Indonesia as a developing country has the ambition to make structural changes in order to achieve increased economic growth, one of which is by increasing economic activity. However, thisincrease tends to be accompanied by an increase in the main externality, namely CO2 emissions. In the midst of the current problem of global climate change, CO2 emissions are the mainfactor influencing it because it has the highest concentration in the atmosphere. Therefore, the aim of this research is to explore the influence of CO2 emissions on GDP in Indonesia. This research uses the ARDL (Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag) method withsecondary data on CO2 emissions, GDP, population growth and renewable energy consumption in Indonesia from 1990 - 2020. The results of data processing estimates show that GDP and renewable energy consumption have a negative effect on CO2 emissions , while population growth has a positive effect on CO2 emissions. From the findings of this research, the policy implications that can be taken are that Indonesia must comply with and further strengthen the basic principles of green energy and prioritize several things such as environmentally friendly living, environmentally friendly production, and encouraging environmentally friendly financing in all fields. For further research, research could focus more on the impact of green finance on energy efficiency in Indonesia.
