Abstract

The primary focus of Kearney’s text in an exploration of the notion of a possible God is, “God who is traditionally thought of as act or actuality might be rethought as possibility.“ With onto-eschatology hermeneutic, Kearney attempt to conceive of God in terms of a God “who may be,” “who is May-Be,” a “possible God,” a God more than impossible, with as first name, borrowed from Nicolaus Cussanus: Posse esse or possest (possibility-to-be). God is not esse (exsistence), God is not nihil (nothing), but God is possest (absolute possibility that includes all that is actual). Therefore, using persona as “a radical fenomenon of transfiguration,” he concluded that the biblical God post-negative theology and methaphysic are transfiguring God, desiring God, and possibillizing God.
